This is a bit off-topic for our site, so I moved it to the "everything else" catagory. Oh, and by the way Kyle, when you're finished testing out the discussion board, how about posting something relevant to CenterTao? Thanks bro.

Oh, and hey . . . I want to fly! Tell me how!

Oh, you can do both at the same time. Just fly slow.

Flying is better than walking 'cause you can stub your toe on rocks or clumsy dumb guys when you walk. If you fly, you can avoid most of those things. It's very relaxing too. It boosts my Qi level.

P.S to the webmaster: Why did you move this to off-the-wall discussion? Levitation is strictly a Tools for Taoist Thought thing!

Umm, well, let's make a new rule: Tools of Taoist Thought is only for non-physical tools (i.e., thought tools) . . . yeah, that takes me off the hook, right? That justifies my action, doesn't it?

Note: We'll get more profound soon, I promise...

You'd have to drug me to get me on a plane. The loss of control terrifies me-I'm also a bad car passenger-so maybe if I WERE flying the plane, I'd be ok, but then I wouldnt want to be on any plane I was flying...
walking is the best, long as you watch out for cars, and falling planes...

You have something in common with my brother.

If somebody else is flying for you, it is probably terrifying for people but even if you fly the plane yourself, there's always the chance of hitting the wrong button or a fuse blows and then *crash*, but if you fly with my miraculous elixer, you don't need a plane. You can just do it yourself! . . like Superman! (more or less). Make cheques payable to cash please!

Actually I have no problem riding in planes. I think it's kind of fun. Only flew twice (well, four times) but really enjoyed both trips.

once up and once down, and thats enuf for me-too many rock stars killed in plane crashes, and I resemble Buddy Holly (or John Denver) too much to take the chance...
and Tao Nut: I had my share of 'magic elixers' that 'helped me fly' back in the day...whee...boy, the 80's were fun, but I've put all that behind me now...

If the plane is big enough you can walk slowly while flying fast but if you have to use the john you'll have to wait till I'm done

I never leave my seat when i travel-once sat 22 hours straight ona bus trip, just meditating, gazing out the window...of course, that was when my bowels were young and strong, dont know how I'd do these days, been so long since I traveled...well, thats probably more than you wanted to know about my inner workings.

I'm white knuckle all the way-I'm also, as I've said, a bad car passenger, but at least i've known people who rolled out of cars and lived...first time I flew i sat next to a middle eastern looking fellow-Arab or some such, and while I try not to be racist, he was carrying a briefcase and looked nervous, I looked nervous, but I thought, 'well, being right next to me, I probably won't feel the explosion'...I think things like this a lot, unfortunately...

and I love Vegas. drove there one year-24 hours each way, what a trip...

what'd y'all go to vegas for? Not a trip i'd expect taoists to make...do they still have the coca cola museum there? Visted it on opening day-a coke bottle shaped elevator-sodas from around the world-man, some of those flavors were nasty! Havent been back in years-not much of a gambler...we stayed at the Excalibur, went to Caesers mall-talk about commercialism -saw the billion dollar animatronic robot show-neptunes battle or some such. impressive...my favorite things there are the buffets...

Yeah, we make a Taoist pilgrimage to Vegas every year   (sarcastic). I'll tell you the story of it.

Well, our grandma wanted to visit Vegas 'cause she went there many, many years ago and wanted to see what it looked like now. apparently it's changed a lot (and from what I've heard of the old Vegas, it sure has). We stayed in the Excalibur (I believe it's the cheapest (price wise) big hotel) and toured the other hotels. I saw the Cola museum but it looked like a gift shop.

I heard that one of the best bathrooms was in Vegas so I just had to see it! It was said to be at Terribles hotel/casino. We went there and while the bathroom was nice, it was no best bathroom! Apparently, the best bathroom is in the Terribles gas station! (marble sink, gold floors , bathroom service at the touch of a button, the works!) I got kicked out when I was looking at grandma's gambling victory (won five dollars? Maybe that was in MGM Grand). The gas station was off the strip so I decided that a bathroom's a bathroom. . . But a bathroom with stalls so clean, you could drop cheese whiz and lick it off! (I'm serious. Clean as a whistle [that's what I heard at least) We left and the taxi driver got a kick out of my quest.

We went to a buffet at Terribles hotel/casino and woowee! They had everything. From bacon to baklava, rolls to rotisserie chicken, they had the works! I wanted to go to the buffet at Exalibur but nobody wanted to go 'cause one person didn't like it in the review.

It felt like we were there for a week even though we were there for a few days. If we go again, we would only go for a day. We didn't go for the gambling, that's for sure.

My favorite thing about the trip was the plane flight. We flew to to Las Angelas for the TS audition thingy and I enjoyed it just as much even though the view was covered with clouds.

    Well, that's enough.

Outside MGM, (on the elevated walkway or whatever it is) there was this big monitor with a looped recording of Rita Rudner telling everybody to see her show. Man! After watching it for the first five times, it got a bit tired of it. I mean I can remember her whole dialogue (even where she stressed tones and pauses) 'n all (even though we were there a year ago). I was impressed with the MGM building on the outside. Inside, it seemed a bit dark (but maybe my eyes weren't adjusted to the light or they were having electrical problems [ ]).

nobody sat around me because I looked like I was about to barf (which I was, but every time I got up to, an exciting part came on, so i swallowed it-takes a great movie to get me to swallow vomit...

and yeah, we dont go to the theatre unless it's a great new cartoon like the incredibles or shrek 2-and then always a matinee-I havent seen any 'grown up' movies in years, & nothing live action that didnt involve a super hero...

we have a new 2nd run theatre now though-3$ admission, and a great menu-pizza, burritos...and beer if you're into that.
man, I'm starving-havent been home yet today...

No, havent seen spongebob-i have a problem with them making movies of current tv shows...I get it for free, cant believe they add so much to the big screen version to make it worth the trip...

Incredibles & Shrek 2 were terrific, shark tale was surprisingly good.

if we go to a regular theater (2 of us)-matinee, buy popcorn & a drink, maybe candy (if we dont sneak any in that is)-and he plays video games in the lobby-you're talkin' $25!

My brother worked at a theatre for years, we got in free-never work a job where you cant 'make your own benefits' (said as I sit here typing on the internet using the state's computer, eating a browine from the kitchen, getting ready to relax & read a people magazine out of the school's mailbox-LOL)

I haven't seen the Spongebob movie yet. I wait for it to come to video.

My favorite movie (television series) is Frank Herbert's Dune (2000) and Children of Dune (2003). I like them especially since I've read all the Dune books.

Wowee! Over here, 25 bucks would just cover the popcorn and drink! If a family of four went to a movie and all got a popcorn and drink, the bill would run up to $100. We can just rent a movie, pop some popcorn at home, buy a few drinks and with the subwoofer plugged in, BAM! You got a theater in your living room for under ten dollars!

By the way, Ma is an avid People reader! I never really caught on to it. I'm a PC Gamer reader.

Here, tickets are 13.50 each for adults (not sure about your son buddy) reg admission, 8.50 for matineee. Popcorn and drink, both medium, are 8.75 without butter (that includes both). Is that comparable?

  1.  # 34

I can't stand paying more than one dollar to sit in front of a screen for two hours. We have a 50 cent movie theatre that has some older movies, and for dollar hotdog tuesdays, you can get every in for $1.50 each. :D :D :D

Have you ever seen the 1980's feature film version of 'Dune' with kyle McLachlan (or however his name is spelled?) It bombed big time. I didnt know they'd done recent miniseries versions.
A massive book like that with so much going on, just cant get captured in a 2 hour movie. I want my moneys worth, but that doesnt mean I want to be bored for 3 or 4 hours (shades of 'Return of the king'-that movie just went on and on...).
Frank Herbert graduated form North Salem, (Oregon) High here, btw. I have an article i'll send along with any future order i make from you guys...

I saw the Kyle Mclachlan film. I didn't think it was too bad but it sure doesn't beat the miniseries on TV. The one in 2000 was 4 hours long and same with the Children of Dune. The visuals look so neat. They aren't as good as Terminator 3 but the dunes and worms looked good. You wouldn't want to have one of those worms in your herb garden let me tell you!

I read all the Dune books and Brian Herbert's Dune series. Haven't seen anything like it. Harry Potter never appealed to me.
